Liam's 2nd Birthday Party---A Cookie Monster Theme!

So finally---after having to deal with work, friends, and family issues...i am a little motivated now to post things going on in the wonderful world of the Castellon Family!

June 22nd was a big day for our son Liam...he turned 2! I can't believe how fast he is growing and how smart he is becoming everyday ..so of course being the rock-star mom that I am...I just had to throw him another lavish birthday party. Well I think it was more creative and colorful then it was lavish.

Liam loves the character Cookie Monste and had started to recognize him since he was 15 months, plus Liam is in love with cookies in general, so I thought why not throw a Cookie Monster themed Birthday Party??? Problem was...any store you go to..whether it be Party City, Michael's, Target, no store had decorations solely based on Cookie Monster, they were all Sesame Street themed. So putting together this party involved a lot more thinking and creativity than I had expected. But the end result came out great! Here are some pictures from the party..enjoy!

You can't have a Cookie Monster Party without a Cookie Bar!
I had mixed a combination of store bought cookies, like Oreo's, Animal Crackers, Pirouettes, and then asked some of my girlfriends who are excellent bakers to bake me some cookies, like home-made chocolate Chip Cookies, and Oatmeal Cookies. I ordered the Sugar Cookies from a friend's bakery in Whittier, CA called Bread and Beyond, to make me cookies in the letters L-I-A-M and the number 2 to go with the birthday theme and colors..which were blue, green, and yellow. I even added in some fun with Cookie crisp for an extra little snack! Everyone got to pick their cookies by putting them in a little cellophane bag and taking it home with them. Guests used pipe cleaners to seal the bags!

I wanted the labels for the cookies and the table to be a little different from just your ordinary paper labels, and kind of go with a more "kiddie" theme... so I found some adhesive chalkboard paper from Michael's to stick to the jars. I also bought those wooden frames from Micheal's for like a buck..to label the tables...i think it worked out!

Milk for every person!

I found these straws on Etsy! I wanted to go for a classic look of a milk and cookies theme.

I also wanted to keep with the Cookie Monster theme...so of course I added bits of monster tid-bits to go along with my food display...this was one of them. Monster Munch= Pirate's Booty!

Here are the gift bags! They were simple to do...luckily I have great penmanship...so I kept to a Sesame Street saying to decorate the outside of them! They were filled with candy, play-dough, a cookie cutter, and a mini cookie monster book that I found at Target for a dollar a piece! Sometimes there are really great finds at the dollar section at target...so be on the look out!

Crafts for the kids included making cookie monster faces and decorating your own sugar cookies!

Pull String Pinata...safe and fun! I found this one for 10 bucks on craigslist!

Party hats were simple! Just some Google -eyes from a local craft store and pom-poms!

Every great party always deserves a great balloon artist!

So after waking up to lots and lots of presents, flowers, and lots of tears from me Cesar and I skipped church went to breakfast at Watson's (yum's) , i had the most delicious cupcake ever, then we walked around South Coast Plaza for a bit! It was nice and relaxing and really I felt so special just to be a mom to the best kid in the world!!

Today Liam got dedicated to the Lord at our church.I t was so beautiful and just so spiritual! It was so great to have our friends and family there to witness this and to understand that Cesar and I are making God an important component to Liam's life! Liam is 10 Months!

Liam turned 10 months today....unbelieveable!!! He can now pull himself up on things, crawl everywhere and has popped two bottom teeth. He is now 19lbs and 27inches long...average for his percentile. It is amazing to see all that he is learned. I couldn't be happier about having such a wonderful baby.

Tonight we left Liam behind and enjoyed an Angels game with Meygan and Casey. It was so much fun but very cold...brrr!!! We had the best seats...right behind first base! We also got to meeet Casey and Meygan's friend Lisa and Noah..they were fun. It was a great night...plus after the game we got to meet one of the cast members from the show Community!

Since it was a great day outside I layed out with Liam outside for a bit to catch son good old vitamin D. Patty brought out some hats because we didin't want Liam to get sunburned..but we figured out that none of his hats really fit him anymore :( So he had to wear one of mine! It was cool! Ok so you are probably wondering what that adorable cute puppy is doing on my blog....no I didn't get a new dog. That pup is cactually our friend Jose's dog and he is just the cutest thing! I can't wait for Liam to see him...he will absolutely love it. I wish i could have taken it home with me...but i know I would have regretted it later :( Anyways...Cesar and I joined Jose and Veronica for a couples date night at Lucky Strike. Grandma was able to watch Liam that night. It was fun...we hadn't been bowling in a while..so it was a good thing to do and instead of the usual movie and dinner!

We took Patches to the dog beach today and he loved it...as for Cesar, Liam and I we could have loved it if it wasn't for the big tide that came in and literally came up to my waist. And oh yeah I was in jeans and my ugg boots! Thankfully I was ok, Liam who was in the bjorn with me was ok and Cesar ok too...except the water did come up to his knees and wet his favorite shoes! Ah well...that will teach us to turn our backs on the ocean...but we made the most out of it and stayed so that Patches can enjoy himself!

7 months....7 months! I can't believe it! My son is 7 months! So here is what's up with Liam...he totally sits up by and is perfectly steady....he is fully fledged into eating solids...aka...baby food. I found out that he loves sweet potatoe, carrots, applesauce, and squash, and green beans....he really doesn't like bananas or peas. He is still teething...no teeth have popped out yet...he really likes to chomp on those teether biscuits from Gerber....and hmmm he is now in size 3 diapers..whoah what a big boy. Oh yeah he is not crawling yet....although it seems liek he wants to but is not sure how to get his little knees up. Cesar and I think that he will probably skip the crawling and go straight to walking...hopefully...I dunno. As far as little accidents go...well he has bumped his head twice on the hardwood floors...but was ok after...it was totally self inflicted...he rolled over off his carpet in his room and landed on the floor. Luckily there was no bump or bruise. And he has kind of had food go down the wrong tube like twice...totally gave mom a scare...but he was a champ and carried on. Yuo my little boy is getting older, cuter and so much funnier. I hate to say it becasue it is so cliche...but its true you can not love anything more than your own kid. I love you Liam!

Day at the Park

It was such a nice day outside that Cesar and I decided to hang out at the park for a little bit. we packed our lunch (really a first) got some blankets and sat out at the park for a while. Liam actualyy really loved it becasue he could roll around this way and that and really go anywhere he wanted to. Plus we loved just holding him up like a little superman and making him laugh too. But the most fun I think was when we put Liam in the swing. OMG! He couldn't have been happier. he loved the swing and Mommy and Daddy both pushing him. This is definitely something we'll have to do liek every day of the week!

After New years..I had a whole week off from work...so since I had a disneyland pass and it was good in january...I decided to take Liam a couple of time to good ol' Disneyland! One of the days I met up with Meygan and Kylie andwe had a great time together :) Kylie loved meeting and seeing some of the characters and Liam wasn't at all freaked out by any of them either. I t was good times...plus meygan got some really good shots of Liam being all happy and such!

So to ring in our New Year with our new addition to the family...we decided to go and hang otu with some friend during the evening then just coming home to ring in the new year with just us...us 3! So we met up with our friends Rosh and Rachel, Alissa and Kyle, and some of our other friends at PF Changs. Liam was such a good boy...he really didn't fuss at all.anyway we has a great time eating and laughing and drinking some yummy wine. After that Cesar and I headed home to put Liam down to bed and then our very best friends Meygan and Casey came over to ring in the new year with us. It was good to spend the night with them two...even though Casey was a little bit sick. It is definitely going to be a great year! 2010 is the year for all of us...i just can't wait for all the things Liam will be doing this year!

So we went to my aunt Cindy's house durign the afternoon to celebrate Christmas with the famiyl! Liam had so much fun being passed from arm to arm, and also got way overwhelemed from all the presents he was being handed. Although he was way more into the paper than he was into the presents. Although he was very excited when he opened up his present from his uncle, it was a leapfrog talking dog! It sings, talks and plays bedtime music...also the best thing was that it says Liam's name!! But of course Liam was so happy just to be home after everything...he had a great time for his first Christmas! Success!

Liam is 6 months today...wow! Already half of the year has gone by. I just can't believe it is flying by so fast. Liam has begun eating rice cereal now and babbling so much. He can also kind of sit up on his own with just an itty bit of help. But I just can't believe that my baby is growing so much into a toddler now a days. I really am going to be one of those mothers that totally babies my son. I am just going to miss all these baby stages. Well I guess it is all down hill from now!

Cesar and I took are somewhat annual trip to Disneyland during Christmas time! We just love it over there during this time of year...all the decorations, and merriment there just makes it seem like Christmas. Plus we love the fireworks and the fake snow they do every night! Unfortunately Liam was kind of getting over a fever that day so he wasn't too much into Disneyland that day but he was a trooper and held in there for Mommy and Daddy. We even managed to take his picture with Santa Claus.

Today we went to Cesar's friend Nelson's Christmas Party. Him and his wife Cherie are such sweet people! Anyways their theme this year was crazy hats...well Cesar had a funny hat..if you can see it in the picture, but it was the highlight of the night. We really didn't take that many pictures, too much going on and lots of new faces to talk to. But on this same day Cesar and I also noticed that when Liam is really tired and when he's drinking his bottle at the same time he puts his little hands over his eyes to block out the light. My son is way too adorable!

Today we went to go visit the Circles...becasue they just had their newest addition...baby boy Brayden! He is so adorable and so absolutely tiny. It made me wish Liam was that tiny again. So Cesar and I went on over to meet his aunt and uncle that were from Germany for the Thanksgiving weekend. Of course Liam got to meet them as well....and just like he is with anybody...he took to them very well. He was all smiles and giggles. Cesar's aunt fell in love with him. We are hoping to visit them next year with Liam for the summer...but we'll see! I can't wait to go to Europe! Oh yea the pizza...there is a story behind that..basically that is the biggest pizza you will find in Hollywood!

Happy Thanksgiving! Cesar and I decided to host Thanksgiving this year at our place. What an event! We fit 30 people into the second living room that was set up with tables and chairs for . My mom made the turkey as I was cooking all day . I made so many side dishes...and I am glad I did, we had just enough food. As for Liam...I believed he enjoyed it although he was being tossed around like a football!Ha! But he was happy to be in so many arms of people who love him so much. But at the end of the day it really is all about mommy and daddy's arms!. Cesar and I cleaned up and as the last few people lef our home we seriously so tired. Babe I think this is the first and last time we are ever going to host Thanksgiving! We were so tired. Of course the next day we hung out in our PJ's all day!

Liam is 5 months today! He is finally in full control of his head now, he can sit up almost by himself, and has started to play on his activity centers now. He loves the exersaucer that we got him from craigslist and is kind of getting used to his jumperoo. He is baby talking a lot more now...especially when I am changing his diaper, is eating his feet, and has so much more hair on his head. He still loves to smile all the time. Liam is also drinking water...almost 3oz a day, and has yet to eat rice cereal. Our boy is growing! We went to Kiddie Kandids to get his photos done and they came out so great!

On Friday I decided to meet up with my best friend Christy at D-land! Let me tell you bad time to go. I guess it was the first day of their christmas stuff and boy it was packed! It took me about 45 min just to get into the parking lot...was a total bad day to go...but there was something good that came out of it. Liam got to interact with Mickey Mouse and he absolutely adored him. He was giggling and laughing and Mickey was even playing peek a boo with him. Plus I got to see Christy and spend some time with her...Christy please don't ever move...you're the best!

Ok so Cesar and I finally got our camera back from getting fixed at Best Buy...and today we celebrated our 3 year anniversary. I can't believe that we have been married fro 3 years, wow! So to celebrate, although Cesar is taking me on a getaway to San Diego next week, Cesar took me to The Melting Pot! I t was so good and boy did we get stuffed. As always my favorite part was the dessert. We order a Smores fondue where it had milk chocolate, graham cracker, and marshmallow creme mixed all together! It was so yummy! Thanks babe for a wonderful night and of course a wonderful three years. We sure have accomplished a lot...hey we made a baby...I can say that is an accomplishment all in itself :) I love you!

Now that Liam is growing little by little...Liam is more aware of Patches. His eyes follow him everywhere when he is on th floor playing with his toys and Patches loves Liam. He likes to lick his toes which Liam just smiles cuz he knows it tickles! Also Liam loves to grab Patches nose and lips which Patches hates :)

After being so tired form the night before...Rachel and I joined up again to go to our friend Alissa's baby shower for her new baby boy Brayden! It was so nice...she had it at her mother in laws house in Corona Del Mar...and let me just say woah what a casa! Very swank! Anyways it was cool...good food and lots of desserts my favorite. Alissa got a lot of cool outfits for Brayden and she looked great...all glowing and not an ounce of exhaustion from the night before! Only a couple more weeks till little Brayden is here!

Ok what a day today. I am so exhausted! So today was Liam's first Halloween...it was very exciting! Liam was the absolute cutest bumble bee and Cesar and I were his bee keepers! Patches was a bee too but managed to take off his hat this time around. So we ended up going to my aunts house earlier in the day to party...plus it was my nino's birthday that day as well...and spent time with the family. I was surprised that most of my family dressed up for the occasion! Anyways unfortunately we had to leave early becasue we had made plans to go trick or treating with the Gruwells and have a little party over there as well to party. I was a little sad that my family didn't have the food ready to eat cuz I wished I could have had more time to enjoy everything that they did...ah well...guess they need to plan accordingly next year! :)
So we headed over to the Rosh and Rachel's house to walk around the block to go trick or treating. Liam loved riding in his stroller while his mommy and daddy did the candy dirty work hahaha. But he did love is Uncle Rosh and Aunt Rachel carrying and playing with him. THe circles later joined us and Katelyn was so cute in her fairy costume! We all had a good time laughing and enjoying eachothers company...and of course Liam was a good baby through out! Liam you did good for your first Halloween!

Liam is 4 months

Toay Liam turned 4 months! Wow! He is growing and learning new things everyday. His new thing is rolling onto his tummy and trying to crawl. I say crawl because he looks like he wants to move and trys to scoot forward but of course doesn't go anywhere becasue he has no strength in his legs. Also he has full control of his head now and is finally sitting up in his Bumbo. On the 27th he went to the doctors and he weighed 15lbs and is now 23in. He got all of his current shots and encountered his first sickness- a stuffy nose. Cesar and I felt so bad for him becasue he couldn't breathe but thanks to Vicks and a humidifier he is slowly getting over it. He still loves to play on his play mat and now has better hand eye cordiantion. Oh yeah and he is a major drool monster. I know he is not cutting teeth but he is drooling everywhere! I am actually having to put bibs on him. He is still smiling a whole lot and still loves to sleep...just like his mommy. I am sorry that i don't have that many pictures of him this month...it has been a little bit difficult becasue our camera broke and is getting fixed...boo! But we can't wait for Halloween to post pics of his costume. So stay tuned!

After church and after lunch today Cesar and I took Liam to the Pumpkin Patch in Seal Beach (since we were in the area). Even though Liam really couldn't enjoy any of the bounce houses or the pony rides or even the petting zoo, we still mananged to get some fun shots of Liam surrounded by all the pumpkins! And yes Cesar and Liam have on matching outfits! hahaha

My eldest niece Amber turned 13 on October 7th and I am in shock of how much older she is getting. I remember that when I was 13 she was born and now she is officially a teenager. So my sister threw her a birthday party at Lucky Strike at the Block in Orange for all of her friends. I want to say that this was her first boy/girl party. It was just weird to see a buch of 13 year olds hanging out becasuse it only made me think about the way I acted when I was 13. really had a definite reality check of how old I am..ahhh! Anyways she had fun bowling with her friends and so did Cesar and I. Liam had to join us cuz are babysitter fell through with babysitting him, but Liam was a really good over there. No fussing at all! Happy Birthday Amber!

On Small World!

So Cesar and I decided to get our Disneyland passes (thanks disney payment plan!) so that we can have date nights over there and also take Liam every once in a while! Liam had so much fun looking at all of the lights on main street and also responded well to the fireworks and the halloween music. We only really went on one ride which was small world, but we loved looking at him having a good time. Also this was a great time to transition Liam to the big boy seat on the stroller...bye bye bassinet! My baby is getting so big! :)

Liam is now 3 months! Exciting! As far as milestones...well here's what he can do now:
he fully can turn over on to his tummy, he is cooing and talking a tuns more and experimenting on his own kind of sounds, he likes to grab things now and holds on tight to them, and he loves to put everything in his mouth. Its funny the moment we give him something in his hand, it goes straight to his mouth! Liam is also smiles a lot now and recognizes Cesar and I right away. His eyes are so beautiful and big and he has lots of rolls all over his body. I think the funniest thing that we notice with him is that when Cesar and I are having a conversation, wether on the phone or to eachother, he likes to jump right in and talk as well. Defintiely a little chatterbox! He is still a little iffy on tummy time! We try to incorporate it into his daily routine, but he lasts only like 10 minutes before he gets fussy. I don't think he doesn't like it I think he just gets frusturated becasue he can't go anywhere..hahaha! As far as cuteness goes...he gets more ( as Cesar lieks to call it ) sexy by the second! hahaha

We had a great time!

So Cesar and I just came back from Vegas and we had a blast!! Liam stayed with his grandma (Patty's mom) while we were out and about in Sin City..yeah! After Cesar got off of work on Wednesday...Cesar and I headed off to the pool to just go relax, and enjoy the nice dry heat. We sipped cocktails and tans our booties off! It was just so nice to be out in the sun again...I was so white. I hadn't been out in the sun in a swim sit in a while so it was nice to get some Vitamin D on my white pale skin. After that we showered and went to go visit Cesar's sister outside the city. While we were on our way there we were so hungry so we stopped at Sonic to go eat. I was so excited because I have never ate there before...I have seen the commercials on tv so just watching them wanted me to eat there one day. So I finalyy got my chance. I f you must know what I ate I had a chili dog and some tots. After we left Cesar's sister's house we went to go walk around at the Palms Casino..another casino that I have never been to. We played some slots and turned $40 into $115 on slots! It was so fun. So after that we wnt back to the strip to play some more and in the end made $180 bucks! So with our winnings we decided to buy tickets to the cirque show La Reve...which was awesome and so The next day we went to breakfast at a buffet, went to the pool again, finally got to have a frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity 3, then got dolled up to go the show! All in all it was an awesome getaway for two...but boy being away from our baby sure made us miss him so much! So we were defintely happy to see him when we got home!

Ugh the weather is so unbearable this whole week...it is so hard to keep an infant happy when it is so unbelieveably hot outside. So to keep Liam cool and content Cesar and I have opted to take Liam a bath either every other day or every day so he can sleep at night and just be a happy baby. And Liam does love getting wet!

My co-worker and friend Jessica is having a little girl in early October. They threw a baby shower for her today in Seal Beach and let me jsut say it was hot! The weather that is! The baby shower was fun and it was good to see people from work on a non work day! We had lunch and played games ( my favorite) and then Jessica opened up her gifts. I got really crafty the week of the shower and made Jessica a diaper cake...it actually came out pretty good! Anyways, Liam also loved being man handled by all the beautiful women at the shower. He especially took a liking to my co-worker Becky!!

Liam is officially two months today! Yea! Liam has now discovered his hands...a thing that he loves, but I can't say the same for Mommy and Daddy....becasue now his little hands come out all full of drool...but it is cute to see him chomping away. Liam is also kicking a lot more and can now kind of focus on the objects and faces all around him. He is also actually holding onto his own toy now...well with a little help from Mommy. We are starting to introduce tummy time more into his schedule, but Liam is not really a big fan of it yet. He is also eating a little bit more now and sleeping a lot more. After a bath and eating 6oz of formula he is out by 10:30 and wakes up at 7am! Which is awesome...cuz now Cesar and I get to have a little more sleep then before. He is fully emerged into the laughing phase...cuz when he's happy he laughs, and giggles, and coo's so much...I think defintely an advancement for being only two months. I just can't believe how fast he is growing...it kind of makes me want to have another baby again just to hold them in that newborn state...but no worries..Cesar and I are not planning to give Liam a little sibling until 4 yrs from now! Happy 2 months Liam!

Since it has been so hot this week I thought I would take Liam to the pool at my friend Christy's house! But to our surprise it was overcast today and not as hot as usual...so the pool wasn't warm enough for Liam to get in. So we opted fro walking around at Victoria Gardens and even having some lunch over there. But Liam did look cute in his swim outfit..no worries my little man we will be using it soon! hahaha!

Today Liam got to meet his cousin Andrew for the first time, along with his Uncle Javier and Aunt Griselda. It was so funny though to see Liam interact with another baby. Liam and Andrew are only 6 months a part...but Liam had no part in a making a new friend with Andrew. He kept on wailing and whining that he didn't want to be next to him..it was so funny. But hopefully with time Liam and Andrew will become good buddies!

It was so hot on Friday that Cesar and I decided to enjoy the cooler weather at Huntington Beach! So we took Liam with us and although he stayed in his stroller most of the time...I can say he enjoyed it. We sure did...and so did Patches, i'm sure he was happy to be out of the house...we walked two miles to the Pier and when we got there we noticed that they were having a Farmer's Market. It was neat...but unfortunatly...like most people we didn't have any cash on us to buy any of the yummy fruit and veggies. But it was good to get out and it was also a good excuse for Cesar to make use of his new sunglasses! Yes after 28 years of not ever owning a pair of sunglasses..Cesar finally has some. I love 'em...he looks so hot! :)

Ever since Liam was born I do have to admit that Cesar and I have not been giving 100 percent attention to our "first baby". So the funniest things happen sometimes when Patches wants attention from Cesar and I. Like for instance sometimes he'll run up to us while we are sitting down and give us his ball so that we can play with him, or he'll jump on the couch with us while we're watching tv and just put his head in our laps. And randomly he'll come up every once in a while onto our bed and sleep on there with us during the night. We love our Patches so much there is no denying that and we hope that when Liam gets older they will be the very best of friends. So to give our beloved pooch some attention..here are some pics! My old roommate at Vanguard is gettign married in September and she had her shower today! It was fun to see faces that I saw everyday that I was at Vanguard living in Catalina on the 4th floor. But boy was it hot in that apt that it was in...the humidity didn't help out at all. You can tell that we were all sweating from the pics :) But Courtney ( who was my other roommate as well ) threw a great shower for her. We played games, ate dessert, and even got to meet Marilyn's fiance via laptop computer. I hope to make it to her wedding in September...its gonna be on the beach up north near Montery Bay. But it was good to catch up with everyone and find out what everybody is up to. I am thinking we should have a reunion for all our floor members!

Today we took Liam to get his 1 month photos done! He did so good. He wasn't fussy at all, he was sleepy though...very sleepy :) We had to keep on shaking him so that he could wake up so this way we could get a couple of photos with his eyes open. I think we got some good ones. The bad thing about getting photos done is that you want to buy all of them becasue they all come out so cute. Well don't worry Cesar didn't let me get too crazy! Our favorite is the one with the bear...Liam's expression is priceless! What's your favorite!
